How to use it

  1. Choose the language of your text in the From box, or select Detect language if you are not sure.
  2. Choose the language you want in the To box.
  3. Type or paste your text, up to 2000 characters.
  4. Press Translate and wait a moment for the result.
  5. Use Copy translation to copy it, or the arrow button to swap the two languages.

How the translation works

Your text is sent over a secure connection to the free MyMemory translation service, which returns the translated text. Because of this, the translator needs an internet connection. Long text is split into smaller parts, translated one by one and joined again. Please do not enter passwords, bank details or other private information.

Tips for better translations

Limits to know about

Automatic translation is a helpful guide, not a perfect result. It can miss tone, local expressions or technical terms. The free service also has a daily usage limit, so if you see a message that the limit is reached, try again later.
