What is an age calculator?

An age calculator turns a date of birth into an exact age. Instead of simply saying you are 28, it shows how many full years, months and days have passed and how many days remain until your next birthday. People use it for school admissions, job and visa forms, insurance, sports categories with age limits, and plain curiosity about how long they have been alive.

The tool runs entirely in your browser. Your date of birth is used for the calculation on your own device and is never sent to a server or saved.

How the age is worked out

The calculator subtracts your birth date from today's date in three steps: years first, then months, then days. If the day of the month has not been reached yet, it borrows the length of the previous month and reduces the month count by one. If the months become negative, it borrows one year.

For example, someone born on 25 November 2000 who checks on 10 October 2026 is 25 years, 10 months and 15 days old, because the 25th of the current month has not arrived and the birthday month has not come round yet this year.

Leap years and 29 February

People born on 29 February have a calendar birthday only once every four years. In other years this tool treats the birthday as 1 March, which is a common convention. Legal rules differ between countries, so for official documents follow the rule used by the authority that will read them.

How to use the calculator

  1. Pick your date of birth using the date field.
  2. Press Calculate.
  3. Read your age in years, months and days, plus the total number of days you have lived.
  4. Check the number of days until your next birthday and the weekday it falls on.

Practical tips

More features

You can now enter a second date to find your age on any day, such as a form deadline or a future date. The result also shows your age in months, weeks, days and hours, the weekday you were born on, your zodiac sign and a countdown to your next birthday.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the result?

It is exact to the day, using the calendar date set on your device.

Does it use the time of day?

No. Only calendar dates are used, so the result changes at midnight.

Why can another calculator show a different answer?

Some tools count months differently, for example as 30 days each. This one follows real calendar month lengths.

Can I find my age on a past or future date?

This version uses today's date. Use the Date Difference Calculator to measure the gap between any two dates.

Is my date of birth stored?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is saved or sent.
